Editorial standards

At INVISIBLE AGING, our (editorial) goal is to model the next generation of internet content. The traditional layout is exhausting and exhausted, with meaningful content interrupted and disrupted by blinking advertising widgets and blaring (often unrelated) video ads. We present a clean, crisp alternative.

This is a community with many contributors:

INVISIBLE AGING. IA provides a presentational framework, and we (the editors) tend to a growing knowledge base.

FACTGRAPHS are re-usable responsive verifiable data visuals captioned without commentary. Factgraphs are free for use by bloggers, educators, media, researchers, businesses, advocates and opponents; anyone.

PARTNERS are allocated a certain number of active posts (INVISIBLE PUBLICITY), for a monthly fee. Each partner post presents a thin slice of their overall program or agenda or viewpoint, explored as part of a coherent single-source stack (click on the source category), or in proximity to the complementary or competing perspective of colleagues / competitors / interested others (click on a tag).

Partner publicity is presented in clearly marked posts that do not disrupt. Rather they are part of the flow of posts with matching tags. In this model, core content is presented without disruption. And partner publicity in turn gets the entire uncluttered screen.

Sources

Sourcing is clearly stated. We link directly to original sources when appropriate. Partner – generated publicity is denoted by the letter .

Style

Our guidelines include the following straightforward style principles:

  • SUPERLATIVES: we might tone these down
  • EXCLAMATION POINTS are discouraged
  • OXFORD COMMA: whatever
  • PROFANITY: it goes without saying
  • DISAGREEMENT is encouraged
  • CONTROVERSY is welcome
  • DISSING is not

Re-use

Partner – generated content belongs to the partner. FACTGRAPHS are for everyone. Any other unmarked INVISIBLE AGING material can be freely re-used under a Creative Commons (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.
